Rupert Murdoch’s open arms is where a democratic, free press goes to die.
According to a recent article by Freepress.net, the Federal Communications Commission is “plotting” a move which would give Rupert Murdoch control of the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune, an illegal move — unless the FCC changes its rules. This would give Murdoch even more power over the country’ s media industry, and limit the span and scope of the nation’s news coverage — not to mention a whole list of other ramifications.
So the question that remains is should the FCC really be debating whether or not Murdoch should be allowed to acquire these big-time news outlets as a mechanism to increase his despotic control over the media?
The answer is — plain and simple — no way.
